Post Have you ever seen..
a Dumont No. 1 set of tweezers from the 1930s..No?

I won a lot containing 10 tweezers on eBay, a couple of No. 5, which is the "usual" very pointy type, some "dull" types and then this old No. 1.

The No. 1 is still being made, but it doesn't look like this today, this one is curved at a 90 degree angle and it is perfect for hairspring work. I already noticed that it will improve my work on hairsprings immensely. It is easy to curve the coils, bend them up or down when overcoiling, a very versatile set of tweezers and a long wait is over.

I used an old an battered hairspring for training purposes and this one is the one to have if you are working on hairsprings.

This one was stamped "Rustless", which it wasn't, but a little TLC made the difference. Mind that stainless steel will rust if it is stored with iron in a humid environment.

I will probably end up taking a couple of pictures and let someone who is interested do the uploading.

Hate photobucket. If you use Tapatalk, you can upload pictures through your phone.
Interesting purchase.

I've actually got a couple of different sets of those myself, they were specifically made for doing overcoils and do the job well. I think mine might be as old as yours although I will have to look to see if they are marked #1 or something else.
