Post Have you ever...
..almost finished a repair/service and then dropped a movement? No? I have, twice now....

The first time was around 10 years ago, the other one was today....

I fully restored and customized an Angelus SF240 this week, (Amperes is going to love this 8-) ) fitted a NOS 5,10 mm CP and suitable hour wheel, removed the seconds pin and drilled the pinion to be able to friction fit a steel rod and turn a new seconds pin to size and 6 mm length so the owner could fit a "normal" hour hand without the extra long seconds hand tube. We tried to make it look like an authentic non alarm SF240.

Final touch, and it slipped...I dropped it...It's now a non working, non alarm movement.. :wtf:

I always tell people to keep movements OVER the bench and not over the floor, I just did the opposite today.

Ah well, staff replacement tomorrow and check the rest.

I have, but thankfully it was my movement and nothing happened. Great story M.

It's not a big problem, just a setback...luckily I have my watchmaker and parts in the house, plus a lot of free time to correct this small issue. 8-)

Bummer Michael. I haven’t dropped a movement but definitely screws.

But I sometimes fart when I laugh....

Was completing an “easy” keyless fix on an oris and putting the hour hand back on then...fliiiing over my right shoulder. That was about 2 years ago. I still look for the damn thing every blue moon

Btw - oris replacement parts are a bitch to find
