Post Sjever
For Sjef.

It is hard to accept the death of a friend, especially when you didn't have the chance to say goodbye, especially as this friend was taken so suddenly and so shockingly at the prime of his life and most especially when it seems like an irreplaceable part of your world is gone.

The grief and the pain can be unbearable, your sorrow knows no end. You never really know what it's like until it happens.

Death and indeed a death so sudden makes me realize the brevity of life. We often take life for granted, too much so. His death made me sit down and reflect. I take time to appreciate the loved ones in my life because I don't know what tomorrow will bring. It makes me put things in perspective. I want to live life and love it, I don't want to spend my life being unhappy or dissatisfied, I want to put a smile on my face because that's what can make a dark day seem bright and I want to play the game of life to the very end.

So for those of you who can identify with me in grief, make it your aim to try and look past it and move on. Our friend Sjef is gone, he passed away last night and I cannot bring him back, but at least in memory of him, I can live a life that I know he would have loved to live. Our friend may be dead and gone but we who are privileged to still be living owe it to him to live fulfilling lives.

Rest in peace my friend.

Michael

I can't say I really knew him, but he was one of the first guys who helped me here. With a single action he teached me more about this community than 1000 hours of reading. I did identify him with the true spirit of HF and I will continue do so. Rest in peace.

It is very sad and words cannot come easy these moments.

My condolences to Sjef's family :(

Sjef was a great person and great friend. He was one year older than me in this forum and he was Him, who got me into the angelus movement game. We have talked through pm's several times, had helped me several times when I was stuck in watch building difficulties, but above all, I was very lucky to hear and talked with him 2-3 times on the phone.

Pleasant person and smiley. A True Honor and one of the Old School hobbyist in our forum. A true gem !!!

I feel sorry and sad and really do not know how this emptiness will be filled again.

Michael is right. Life has these cruel moments that makes you sit back and reflect your times in this earth. Live every day like no other and be happy that you breath, walk and have friends.

Rest in Peace my dear Sjef. For me, You will be always in my mind as a True Friend and HFer !!!

To a much respected member of the forum.
To a voice of reason when the going gets tough
To a caring man who reaches out to you when he senses things aren't totally 100% right.

I will miss his presence on this forum.

Michael/Elias, please keep us updated on the details his family is willing to share with us. Perhaps there is a little something we can do as part of his HF family

Luke.

all the above. Sjef was a gentleman who always jumped to the aid of anyone who needed help or advice. Wicked sense of humour also. My thoughts are with his close friends and family.
