Yeah, Man size!
The tan 3 ply is 7mm at its thickest, but it sits very comfortably on the watch and looks balanced.
Having poured over Civic's reference photos looking at the straps, there's a huge variety of thicknesses with quite a few 6152-1's and big Egi's sporting 3 ply 'sandwich' straps. In the end I think it just comes down to personal preference and good old Altan ( Volpeto ) can make whatever you want.

Nice to know, that there is a variety of vintage Straps for different pam models. I am practicing on strap making and will take these pics for reference to my next builds.

Just for my understanding: this is more Luminor style strap, is the 3646 style strap bit different?

Yes , those are inspired from 6152 straps. Early Rad straps have quite simple construction. There are also example of this style on rads but probably those are their second strap as below;

I took my reference from these original straps. I think they’re indicative of when the watches were very much ‘tools’ and robustness was a key element.

"Sandwich" option does not exist in the gen OP straps ... it's just a "solution" which strapmakers use when they do not have thick enough leather, for certain models! It's very hard to find an adequate thick leather with approximately the same structure as the vintage OP used ... I know from experience! Of course I do not mean anything bad, I used the same "trick" several times, but if we talk about gene references, this principle can not pass :)
BTW I love your work , beautiful straps Altan :clap: :wave:

Ahh thank you BETMEN, and your works always be inspiring for me :)

As for the 3 ply, I think I saw some multi layer examples in various strap reference photos but sure I'm not able to authenticate them by the photos or even in real.

On the other hand, there could be an optical illusion because of flesh and skin side of leather aged in slightly diffrent color and shape.

Many gen watches are with straps which are replaced, made later (your photo) so this can not be authentic reference... Simply there is no logic that the old Panerai strapmaker in process of production, glued leather layers to get thickness .... you're a strapmaker, does not it sound absurd :) ... do not it !? After all these years dealing with this business and stock with over 30 different types of leather, I still have a problem with some shades of leather because I simply can not find the adequate thickness that should be min. 1,8mm - 2,5mm ... but ok, there is still time :)
This is our curse bro ;)

Post Re: Volpeto 2 & 3 ply straps
Yes Betmen, I see your point and I agree about those photos ( btw not mine :) ) could not be authentication reference. I just made it as option that's all.

There is only thing I have noticed as a plus besides the thickness about three ply structure; although I used same hide, 2 ply and 3 ply samples have shown different shrinkage behaviour (especially lenghtwise) due to the kinda composite structure of 3 ply.

And yes it is absolute curse that finding proper leather which have balanced stiffness and thickness and same time. The leather characteristics that we may need in this type of strapmaking does not meet general market demand so I found many of my hides by visiting directly tannery because they have rarely sent too thick hides to the market. And tannery visit is a sort of exam for nose, is it strong enough to do this or not ? =)

Images received by Altan from the owner of an original 6152-1 to make a copy of its period strap. His cinnamon leather is a perfect match.Nice!
