We know here more than anywhere how close one can get to the original

With vintage parts and watches how does one get such a certification Mel?

I think it all ends up being buy the seller. And this seller is a crook.

Exactly what Vinh said. We have covered Romanyantiques's sales posts plenty of times to know better.

Well, on this case... Bettarini is still alive, so it's possible.

I can add that the brass plaque is different from the one on that example that was put on sale at Christie's some time ago by Bettarini himself.

Post Re: Don't bid on my eBay item - Official thread
Provenance in writing from previous owners verified by panerai and or bettarini directly. As with all genuine historic items frequently value is based on documentation available. For mille metri's verification of authenticity and ownership can beobtained from bettarini personally.

Anecdote and heresay does not play well in antique rooms or in valuers offices.

Buyer beware and get documentation!

Remember even dealing with established retailers they may unwittingly sell non gen items

Play safe out there guys

Lars, can you tell us which screws you mean? My eye is not as keen as yours ... If anyone knows Esdee cases it's Elias! His word to me is paramount other than perhaps Esdee himself.

Always good to know some guys have an eye on what is being sold. Beware of stuff you don´t know if it´s serious or not anyway. Scammers are everywhere.
