Post Don't bid on my eBay item - Official thread
You asked for it, so here it is. For the benefit of the forum members, post links to eBay items that you're bidding on here, along with a short description (for instance: what it is, why you want it, and the item number).

The hope is that members here will respect each others auction bids, and avoid bidding on those auctions in order to prevent bidding wars between each other.

Short eBay links with just the item number in the URL are preferred. Here's an example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=000123456789
(not a real auction)

I'm bidding on a Patek tourbillon - please stay out of the auction. It's up to $1.2M and I don't want it to go any higher :lolno:

Thanks . Well, it all started as a search for 6497/8 case or cheap 6498 watch.. Then I saw this and more I looked at it, the more I liked it.
I wanted a rosegold / black combo. Wonder how it works on the hand. If nothing, it will suffice as an organ donor (and I love the fact it is a 6498 and not 6497 movement in there)

Note that this is a key-wound version and not the more desirable stem-wound version. Just trying to grab this as a spare-parts source for a future Angelus project.

Good score. The movement alone is worth the price ...

Trying this again:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0112824803

Another key-wound Angelus auction. Utterly useless at the moment as conversion piece, but a good source of spare parts (although the seller mentions issues with it running, which makes me suspicious).

Ah, sorry for the confusion. For the record, I am not. It just looked like something someone here would be chasing. Posted to see if someone wanted to claim dibs...

That raises another thread idea with respect to eBay. Perhaps we need an "eBay finds" type thread for things people see and like, but AREN'T bidding on. Lord knows a ton of cool stuff goes by all the time. Who has the time to find it all??

That's a good idea. I'll create a thread for that shortly.

Make sure you get a warranty with the Chronotac. It will more than likely have some issues with the crown stem and time setting. That is my experience with the GMT model anyway - the non-GMT may be more reliable.

Edit: Off-topic, eBay should add a "Bury It Now" option to auctions: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Militare-Ma ... 3efb83f8cf
There's something to be said for custom watches, but it seems weird to me to make a watch "from scratch", then sell it for an exorbitant price.

IMO that watch is worth 70% of the value of their parts, no mods, no special movement... no way

Funny thing is its not even an RXW.....

notice on the bottom with the questions.... he says that he cant specify where all the parts came from...(ummmm china?!) I think we all know how easy it would be to make this watch with some engraving tools, bench grinder, some chems for antiquing, and a decent strap left in the sun for a week then hit with shoe polish....

I feel bad for the dude who bought this thing.....

I'm after this 20mm Tropic strap with curved lug-ends, which will be period-correct for the Memovox Polaris homage that I hope to build.
