Post Rolex datejust pricing?
Maybe some of you Rolex guys can tell me what a fair price on this DateJust would be. (The lower mens watch in the photo.)

All I have to go on is this photo and a short description.

Tough to say without know more more details: circa, condition, where it’s coming from, papers, etc.

I’d say anywhere from $5k-$15k.

I wish I had more details. Estate sale I got a lead on.

The prices are usually very good at company that does the estate sale. I might have to go down and see it in person on Thursday.

Checking ebay has given me an idea around $5000.00

I can only find this style of dial with the small roman numerals in black.

Looks like a newer (sapphire) model. If you are patient, you should find one like that for around $4,000. If you don't mind an older model - 1970s and such - you should find it slightly cheaper.

Ok got a look at it today.

Serial F236470....makes it around a 2004. Model 16234. Does this have a Tritium dial?

Smaller case then I thought. 36mm. No box or papers, just the watch.

Now to come up with a resaonable price for it. I'm not as happy with it as if it would have been a 41mm, but if the price is right I will grab it.

What do you gents think is a fair value?

Hi P,

Tritium was replaced by Luminova by around 1998, IIRC. I would pass on it, and get an Explorer II instead. These are 40mm sporties.

Is it accompanied with Box, Papers, Tags, etc? Full set? If not and with unknown history, I would be out at 3500 max.

Wil

I do own a few 34mm Rolexes but each time I put them back into drawer after 1 day (2 days is the most) of wearing.
Don't get me wrong, I do like them just it is too small for our wrist in modern days. If you just want to add on to their collection, then go for it. Good luck

Thankyou for the help gentlemen. I did not purchase the watch due to the smaller size.

I was invited to come back today and make an offer on the watch as it has not sold. Not 100% happy with the size of the watch, but for the right price you never know.

Will keep you guys up to date.

The watch does have a tritium dial.

cheers, P

For $5,000, I would pass. It would have to come down a lot for it to be a good deal, and for that price tag you can look for so many other Rolex watches that would have a more reasonable price base from which to negotiate.

On auction you can get a vintage (50s-60s-70s-80s) men's 34 mm Oyster, like a Oyster Perpetual Date (auto), Precision (manual), Royal (manual), for $1500-$2000, depending on condition (cosmetic and movement), model, if it has bracelet etc. A 36 mm (DateJust) is a bit higher, $2500-$3000.

Ladies' models have almost no resale value. $5000 is crazy.

I passed on this one. The price was not right for the smaller size.

Thank you for the comments. I've learned a little more about the Rolex models.

all the best, binbin

This is a very good review and reflect around what I’ve seen also.
