The curve on the bottom would be hard to compensate for. I had my ideas. But for now, it'll go into the collection.ImageImageImage

Experiment 8 update...
So, the art deco dial...
I didn't just want another white dial watch. Most dials I've seen are white, silver and the odd gold. So, I went black. Wasn't sure about the numbers and minute and second tracks, so i went through my paint selection and came out with a yellow/grey. I'm relatively pleased with the result.
(The centre is black, weird lighting affect to make it blue.)ImageImageImage

Compared to my Seiko, this exp. 8 lacks contrast with the numbers. Image

Got my Axxe Classic on Experiment 2. I like the strap a lot. AXENOV85 does nice work. Debating if I should try to age it a bit? Image

So I've got this Seiko Recraft SNKN41 that I rarely wear. (Though I might wear it more often with the mesh.)
I'm tempted to make an homage to my Omega Constellation c-case. Would require several things:
1. Dial work... Not sure how thos dial works, it looks 2-piece.
1.2 getting markers and a star.
1.3 getting custom logo.
(Anyone know where I can get markers and such?)
2. Reshaping lugs/lug area.
3. Finding appropriate style/length hands

Likely project name: not Experiment 10/11...
Something like Constellation Gemini

This is a distant future thing, if ever. Big watch, small movement means for the look I'd need to put the dial in from the top. A lot of custom work fof that dial. Probably would need to source custom hands as well. At this point, I like the watch enough with that bracelet to actually wear it. Maybe someday...

So, I was experimenting with lume in nail polish and it ate away the paint. It kinda looked cool.
I modified some some silver hands to be more aged brass.
I'm pleased with the result. A total fluke, but I'm pleased.
I do need to find a different crown and strap, I hopefully will have replacements this Christmas. ImageImageImage

Borrowed the strapsco that is normally on my Lew & Huey Phantom. Looks perfect on this Experiment. Image

Experiments update:
Image

Experiment 1 - railroadish watch complete

Experiment 2 - pilot watch - complete

Experiment 3 - (not pictured) parted out and gone.

Experiment 4 - tokkotai - struggling with the dial. Had planned on outsourcing the painting, but I'm being stubborn.

Experiment 5 - full lume pamhom - complete (for now)

Experiment 6 - Tokkotai 2 - on hold due to misplacing dial

Experiment 7 - ??? - I have a vintage pocket watch dial at the house in the Philippines. I'm hoping it fits this case. Maybe this will be a summer project.

Experiment 8 - pamhom 2 - on hold. Gave up on the red/black sunburst for now. Repurposed the Swiss 649* to the depth guage, so I need another no second-hand movement, but it's not in my current budget.

Experiment 9 - art deco - complete.

Experiment 10 - not pictured. Depth guage. Ordered a case to fit the dial.

The others...
11. Sturmanskiestein - complete (sitting in slot 3)
Once a crappy 24h mechanical Sturmansky rip-off, now a quartz GMT depth guage. I'm mostly happy with its transformation, but there are still a few niggles to work out.

12. Tokkotai 3 - on hold (not pictured)
Dual crown, internal bezel. Miyota automatic. This watch is uncomfortable to wear. Will experiment with straps and shaping if needed.

13. The 'not sure' Ultimate legno bronzo - (sitting in slot 10).
I bought this from Big Eebee and set it aside. I needed to punch an extra hole in the strap. Then I dropped it, and now the molly doesn't hold time. So, that's a repair for the summer. Put the red strap on just to see how it looks. Not sure about the dial. Not sure where this one is going yet.

A case of cases.
I have 3 of these Parnis coin-edge bezel cases. The first is au natural... Unmodified.
ImageImage

The second I shaved down the lugs and swapped crowns with a different case.
ImageImage

The last, I pretty much finished today, has the shaped lugs and I reshaped the original crown.

Thoughts?

Experiment 8 update...
Pamhom 2 - on hold(not anymore).
Gave up on the red/black sunburst for now. (That was then, this is now... Had an idea for the sunburst. Turned out darker than I originally envisioned it, but I like it.
Repurposed the Swiss 649* to the depth guage, so I need another no second-hand movement, but it's not in my current budget. (Re-repurposed the movement back to the sunburst, now I need a movement for the depth guage.)

I'm happy with this. It turned out pretty much how I wanted. I put the strap on that I bought a couple of years ago for this project.

Image

Movement: Arnex 649x, serviced and deseconded by unreformed66.

Case: Parnis 45mm Panerai style - unmodified

Image

Dial: 3 layer sandwich. Top layer came as an extra with the bronzo from Big Eebee. Middled layer is luminous tape which is adhered to bottom layer, which once upon a time was a parnis dial. Top and bottom layer had to be narrowed from about 37mm to 36mm to fit the case. Used a cheap electric fingernail shaper to do the job. (I love the thing, it helps me out on case shaping as well.)

Image

Hands: Generic black tallish tube batton hands, yellow glow. I honestly don't remember if these are parnis or Otto Frei.

Strap: Strapsco Dassari Kingwood XL premium Italian leather 26mm mahogany

Guitar: 1967 Sekova Viola Bass(in need of a restoration).
